Project Overview

I led technical SEO efforts at Remarkable Outdoor Living to improve crawlability, indexability, and overall site health. This involved large-scale optimisation of image alt text for accessibility and image search, resolving soft 404s and 4xx errors, implementing structured data across store location pages, and managing redirects for deactivated products. My focus was on building a cleaner technical foundation to support long-term SEO performance and prevent issues that could impact user experience or search visibility.

Image Alt Text Optimisation

  • Added SEO-optimised image alt text across 3,605 image instances sitewide—while some were repeated assets across different page types, each instance was individually reviewed and optimised for accessibility and image search visibility

Soft 404 Resolution

  • Resolved 300 soft 404 errors and documented solutions for an additional 40, ready for future implementation

4xx Error Fixes

  • Resolved 150 flagged 4xx errors over time through regular (typically bi-weekly) Screaming Frog crawls to identify and address issues across the site

Structured Data (Schema Markup) Implementation

  • Implemented comprehensive schema markup across 9 store location pages to support structured data and build internal connections between key entities (e.g. people, products, locations) on the site, contributing to a more coherent content graph for search engines

301 Redirection Management

  • Regularly implemented redirects for deactivated products, monitoring Slack notifications daily to ensure timely action and prevent crawl errors, soft 404s, and 404 errors on blog posts linking to products
